Summer Project 2010

Our Summer Project ran again in July this year. The beautiful weather this year made it even more enjoyable - we had only one day of rain, and that was on the fishing day, so it was the right day to get rain! We began on the 12th July with a wek of activities for 11-14yr old boys. As well as fishing on Arklow beach, the boys did swimming in the NAC, canoeing in Bray with CYC outdoor pursuits staff and they did a range of activities in Eco Adventure e.g Mountain biking,  group games, horse-riding etc. They had a very active week and great fun.          Also that week, the girls joined a Joint Initiative Summer Programme locally, with our youth worker and their activities included canoeing and orienteering with CYC in Bray; Art & Crafts (wood cuts and flax flower-making) and Cookery in the WAY Project and swimming in the NAC.

The following week, the 7-10 yr old children enjoyed  a fun-filled week of activities which included swimming and bowling in Courtown; shelter making, feeding pigs and learning about fruits and vegetables in Carrig Dulra, Glenealy; visiting Kia'Ora open farm and more outdoor fun in Clara Lara. On the last day, they did Art & Craft activities and Cookery (making their own burgers, salad and dessert for the bar-b-que. All of the children had a really great week.

On the 4th August, we brought the 14-18yr old youth group to Scotland for the day. We flew from Dublin to Glasgow and then got a bus to M & D's Amusement park about 1 hour drive from Preswick Airport. We had a fantastic day there.
